Suicide

These resources are designed to provide information on physician suicide prevention, including identifying risk factors, and to connect residents and program leaders with resources if they or someone they know has concern for risk.

UPMC WELL Toolkit: Suicide Resources

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) WELL Toolkit "was designed for physicians by physicians, with content that is evidence-based and specific to physicians and the practice of medicine." It speaks directly to ACGME requirements for well-being in a meaningful way.

UPMC identified three primary goals for the WELL Toolkit's Suicide Section:

  • give an overview of suicide prevention as it pertains to physicians, and
  • provide practical ways that physicians can look out for ourselves and our colleagues when there is concern for risk.
